This Is What Change Feels Like

What does change really feel like? Sometimes, it feels like peace returning to a home once filled with conflict. Sometimes, it feels like children finally feeling safe at school. And sometimes, it looks like the smile on a child’s face when they put on a school uniform for the very first time.

This End of Financial Year, we’re launching our campaign: This Is What Change Feels Like — a collection of stories from real people that have experienced real transformation thanks to the generosity of supporters like you.

These stories are not about statistics or numbers on a page. They are about mothers fighting for a better future for their children, marriages being restored and communities experiencing sustainable change. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing stories of transformation that show the impact of practical support, empowerment and compassion in action.

One of those stories belongs to Ruth.

A Mother’s Determination

Ruth is a single mother in eSwatini who works tirelessly through her small business to provide for her children. Like many parents, she dreams of giving her children opportunities she never had. Ruth works tirelessly through her small business to provide for children's basic needs, but often times, there simply isn't enough.

At the start of the school year, Ruth was unable to provide her children with school uniforms. Without the correct uniforms, her children were being bullied at school by other students and the principal warned they may not be allowed to continue attending school unless they had the proper clothing.

As a mother, this broke Ruth's heart. She knew education can change her children’s futures, but she could not afford the uniforms they desperately needed. Together with our local partner, Operation Hope, we were able to provide school uniforms for her children. What may seem like a simple uniform became dignity, belonging and hope for a brighter future.

This is what change feels like.

Be Part of the Change

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more stories of lives transformed through community empowerment, practical support and compassionate generosity. As we approach the end of the financial year, we invite you to continue being part of this transformation. Your support can help more children access education, more families rebuild their futures and more communities experience lasting change.

Together, we can help others experience lasting transformation, and maybe even feel a little changed ourselves
