Compelled by
the opportunity to make a difference

We facilitate lasting positive change that empowers, honours and benefits everyone we work with in their unique circumstances.

We work collaboratively with every individual we empower and interdependently with every local partner organisation we work alongside.

We find great joy in witnessing the lasting impact that compassionate support can have, not only for the individual but also for their future generations, as lives are transformed.

We work to uplift individuals and communities, guiding them towards sustainable growth, success and restored dignity.

As part of a like-minded community of supporters we combine our skills, resources, and global perspective with local insights and knowledge.

This approach ensures that our efforts are effective, sustainable, and tailored to meet the unique needs of each community we serve.

How we work
Our work is all about interdependent partnership and collaboration.

Our approach hinges on robust partnerships.
We work interdependently with experienced local organisations, collaborating and coordinating our efforts to achieve lasting change.
These partnerships are indispensable. The local organisations and their teams are deeply ingrained within their communities and hold essential local insights, connections, and ability to support. They are pivotal to driving meaningful transformation.

What we do is driven by our partners - we collaborate, design, develop and facilitate projects together based on their assessments and their knowledge. CBL listen and learn, add value through our own experiences and strengths, and then trust our partners in the implementation that only they can do effectively.
This way of working requires a depth of relationship, openness and trust that takes years to build - we’ve been working with each of our partners for over a decade, bringing a richness and uniqueness to how we work that is the foundation of all we are able to achieve together.
Through active engagement with individuals, families, and community leaders, we work together to identify needs and amplify strengths, fostering sustainable development from within the community.
Central to our joint model is the three-way partnership involving local partners, CBL, and our dedicated supporters.
Without the financial backing and resources provided by CBL, our local partners would lack the capacity to execute collaborative projects effectively.
Without our partners’ locally-specific expertise CBL would be ineffective.
Likewise, the steadfast support of our donors is indispensable, enabling CBL to fund initiatives that make a tangible difference.

Where we work

eSwatini
Why eSwatini?
eSwatini grapples with challenges including inadequate access to essentials like clean water, food, housing, healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. The burden is exacerbated by high rates of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, leading to widespread illness, malnutrition, and economic vulnerability.

What needs are CBL working to support in eSwatini?
CBL works with our partner Operation Hope in eSwatini to address diverse needs, including food security, sanitation, education, and community empowerment. Initiatives like the Mealie meal food ration program, Kitchen Gardens, pit latrine construction, Sister Act Program, and Small Change Program aim to enhance nutrition, hygiene, education, and economic empowerment, fostering holistic community development.

India
Why India?
India is home to a population of around 1.2 billion people. More than 400 million of this population live in poverty, and 21% of that live in extreme poverty.

What needs are CBL working to support in India?
Our work in India focuses on providing education to children from poor and marginalised backgrounds, giving them the opportunity for a future.

Rwanda
Why Rwanda?
Rwanda endured a devastating Genocide Against the Tutsi people in 1994, leading to over a million deaths in just 100 days. Deep divisions, created and entrenched by Belgian colonisation and formalised through identity cards, continue to shape the nation's history, with over 75% of the population showing symptoms of PTSD.

What needs are CBL working to support in Rwanda?
Compelled By Love works with local partner CARSA to provide the Empower Program, addressing trauma, focusing on PTSD alleviation and resilience-building in marginalised communities. Additionally, our holistic approach includes all six pillars of CBL's work, empowering individuals, fostering community healing, and breaking the cycle of poverty and trauma.

Sri Lanka
Why Sri Lanka?
Sri Lanka faces persistent challenges from conflict, vulnerability to natural disasters, and ongoing development needs, including food security, income, and community cooperation, compounded by economic instability and post-conflict rebuilding and reconciliation efforts. Alongside this, Sri Lanka has a deep need for recovery services for children, especially girls who have survived human trafficking and sexual abuse.

What needs are CBL working to support in Sri Lanka?
We work together with local partner Leads as they provide specialised professional recovery support for victims of abuse, through Kedella Rehabilitation Centre, counselling and family strengthening. We are also engaged in livelihood support and community empowerment work, along with responding to emergencies and crises as they arise.
